Advantages and disadvantages of screw Compressor

Advantages:-

1. Continuous and uniform flow of air.
2. It has high volumetric efficiency.
3. Less power consumption even at part load operation.
4. It Can be directly coupled to electric motor.
5. Low maintenance cost due to less number of moving parts.

Disadvantages:-

1. Due to of single stage type design it has lower efficiency.
2. It is difficult to Operate in dirty environment.
3. It has limited airend life.
4. Exhaust pressure is not higher than piston Compressor like reciprocating type.
5. Its cost is too high.

Applications:-

1. Solution gas and vapour recovery system.

It is used in Process refrigeration and in various gas application.
